That White, Polar, or Snow Fox

​Unlike most other animals, the Arctic foxes are mostly monogamous and both parents will be responsible for their young. The Arctic fox is more likely to be promiscuous (i.e., exhibiting both male and female sexual behavior) in areas where prey and predator populations are high. By maintaining multiple territorial groups comprising of breeding or non-breeding males or females, greater pup survival may be ensured. Competition grows and the number of foxes in a region reduces when resources are few. For coast dwellers like polar bears in Svalbard, complex social systems appear to be more frequent than monogamous foxes who depend on food abundance. Compared to other groups, Scandinavians have more complicated social systems because of the existence of the red fox. In addition, environmentalists are providing additional nourishment to a shrinking population. Only in Iceland, however, does monogamy predominate. Kin selection may be shown in the fox, where the older pups (one-year-olds) frequently stick around in their parents' area even when there are no predators around and less resources.

The Arctic fox, also known as the, is a tiny fox that is endemic to the Northern Hemisphere's Arctic areas and is widespread throughout the Arctic tundra biome. It is well suited to cold climates and is well recognized for its thick, insulating fur that doubles as concealment. The highlight of Arctic tundra is that polar bears rule the stage. Although mostly alone, arctic foxes are noted for their behavior referred to be “cheeky” and so are sometimes termed “clowns of the tundra. It is unusual for someone to get this close to them.

​For thousands of kilometers in all directions, the Earth is completely frozen. Two black eyes suddenly appear when a white mound begins to shake. When the lump is molded, it becomes the white, fluffy body of a single arctic fox. Under her thick winter coat, the canine brushes the cover of snow off. That's what keeps her alive. During the polar winter, fur that is not covered in fur may not be enough to keep this fox alive, as temperatures seldom get beyond zero degrees Fahrenheit. The arctic fox will rely on techniques that keep it from freezing during the winter, and because of this, it is considered a champion of the cold. When it is not attempting to maintain body temperature or evading predators, an arctic fox is on the prowl for food. They favor little rodents called lemmings, but when times are bad, they will eat everything they can find, including insects, berries, and even other animals' droppings. Occasionally, an arctic fox may accompany a polar bear on a hunting expedition and consume the animal's leftovers.

Conclusion:
Foxes are the only canine species capable of retracting their claws in the same way that cats can.
